Toni Saxophone Quartet

The Toni Sax Quartet was founded at the Zürich University of the Arts in 2016 when four saxophonists from all over the world, all students of Lars Mlekusch, decided to form an ensemble based on a budding friendship and a keen taste for experimentation. The quartet is formed by Charles Ng (Hong Kong), Amit Dubester (Israel), Valentine Michaud (France) and Joan Jordi Oliver Arcos (Spain). The young musicians are equally at ease with transcriptions, contemporary works and improvised shows and have already had the opportunity to perform at significant events and places such as the Longue Nuit de la Musique Contemporaine, the Tonhalle Zürich, The Impuls Festival in Graz (Austria) and the Zurich International Saxfest. Convinced by the interest of transdisciplinary collaborations, they create together with the visual artist and performer Emmanuel Michaud, graduated from the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin a new performance, Cairns, premiered in Zürich in September 2017. The performance explores the relationship between music and architecture, time and space, through a minimal music and improvised soundtrack.
